Brandon led the woman and child down to the crowd of people rushing away from the mess hall. He pushed in front of the woman and held the horde away from her and the child as people rushed to the evac bay. He stopped at the doorway of the mess hall staring at the securions and the Khrysis Security officer nervously.
____

The officer pushed himself up as the ship settled, he turned to the entrance where his eyes locked on the fugitive in the doorway. His eyes quickly looked the man over carefully checking for any weapons when the woman cleared the horde behind him and came into view. He held his hand near his weapon but did not move any further. He just watched.
____

People rushed into the Evac Bay as the first wave of pods launched into space auto piloted to the nearest live sustainable atmosphere. The next wave of pods opened and began the next count down.
____

Kage raised his hand as the evac pods launched into the space needed to fire upon the Khrysis. He looked around his bridge to his officers as all hope fled from his mind. He closed his eyes and bowed his head, only moments later he stood from the Captains Chair and grasped the railing in the center of the bridge.

"Navigation deck, set thrusters to full, avoid all evac pods and set course for the Flagship Khrysis, we're getting the Echo out of here." He said in a commanding, urgent tone. "Open a com link to the Echo, now!"

The communications officer immediately opened up a live feed broadcasted to all speakers, holographs, and screens aboard the Echo. The visuals opened, the forty-some year old Asian Captain stood.

"Civilian Transport Echo, due to the number of Evac pods in the line of fire we are unable to use ire power to divert the Khrysis. Brace for possible impact, we are moving in to ram the Khrysis flagship. Once freed from the Khrysis navigate to the planet Novalyse, it should be the closest orbit to our location. Over."

There were only a few moments before turbulence shook the Echo as Nox struck the Khrysis, cutting through one of its engines and breaking contact with the echo. From the monitors the feeds showed the ship break free from the Khrysis and start rushing out of the meteor showers and away from the chaos that had ripped apart the fleet. Suddenly the Khrysis engine bays exploded as the Nox was in direct contact with the ship, sending piece of both ships surging out into the emptiness and fire raging in the halls of both.

H.4.X shouted over his comm link and in the mess hall he was standing in for everyone to brace for impact, as the ship rocked and everything, everywhere, fell all over everything ever, he shouted into his comms again "Who has navigation right now!? We need to get to that planet they mentioned or we're all screwed!" He couldn't do anything but yell at this point, this wasn't his area of training, he shoots things, he doesnt fix ships.

Cole yelled as loud as he could. " EVERYBODY HOLD ONTO SOMETHING AND TRY TO STABILIZE PEOPLE THAT CANT MOVE QUICK" Cole, held onto the little girls tightly and grasped anything solid with his free hand that was close. Jesse likewise did the same thing. Hyaku clamped his hands on either side of a gurney trying to keep an injured person that was unconcious from being thrown off, and had wrapped himself around hispersonal computer console trying to keep it from being damaged while he himself tried to wedge into his little corner asmuch as possible

As Odessa sat bouncing in her pod some being as wide as he was tall grabbed her by the front of her jumpsuit and tossed her back into the evac bay. She barreled towards him as he was loading the last seat - the one she had been in with a pensioner and a baby. He slammed the pod door closed and dodged out of the way milliseconds before she would have hit him. Hitting the door hard, she twisted around and hissed at the colossus. "Sweetheart yar plen'y well enough ta help," he told her as he turned his back on her.

Clair glared at Cole with disgust. "Is this fuck face for real?" She called to no one in particular, "All that are left are people who don't move fast." But she tried to instruct those close to her to curl up in a small ball with their head as protected as possible. She tried not to think the phrase "put your head between your legs and kiss your ass good bye," Honest.

Dr. Rich tried to make sure everyone's important parts - like intestines and diaphragm were covered. It wasn't like he was able to hold on to even himself but he was less worried about sliding all over the place and more with shrapnel in open abdominal and thoracic cavities

Mika had descended into a fog as she tried to help those in need. Her training so very much didn't prepare her for this.

Garcia jolted violently with the ship and reflexively grabbed the end of the tether to steady herself. Would the ship even last long enough for the evac pods to eject successfully? It didn't seem like it at this point as she checked over the evacuation control panel's vital readings. She heard H.4.X's voice over the comm and waited for a response. Silence. She piped in.

"Navigation is fucked," she reported dutifully. "If we're lucky, at this distance, some of the pods may be able to manually navigate towards that planet. Hell, its gravitational pull may help us out. We can actually survive this, if we all keep our shit together. Continue evac!"

She watched with disgust as the people shoved over each other to get out, and witnessed the fat man slam the door closed in the woman's face. She silently brushed her hand across the small of her back where she had - very much against any of the ship's security protocols - stashed a small .380 handgun, virtually invisible hidden within the folds of her jumpsuit. She hoped to hell she wouldn't have to use it any time soon, but the thought of it comforted her. No one else knew, and she intended to keep it that way.

"Hey," she shouted at Odessa as she took a few staggering steps closer. "Stay with me, chica, I'll make sure you get a seat. And that fuck-face will get what's coming to him, if we run into him again. Come on! We're leaving REAL soon."

-

Tara and Taylor made it to the mess hall with the stranger's help. They had the chance to make it to the evac bay, but Tara doubted whether her little girl would make it. She grabbed the nearest familiar doctor, one who she had worked under a few times, and pleaded for whatever help he could give her daughter as she fought to stay steady amid the bucking and shuddering of the ship's collisions.

-

The little boy hit the ground hard, but got up and straightened himself off. Confused and alone, he waded within the crowd and eventually found himself lucky enough to get into one of the evac pods. His confused expression could be seen clearly as he peered out one of the pods' view-ports just before it launched.

Gregor heard a hissing sound at the pod to his cryostation unlocked and opened. He strechted and opened his eyes, still blurry and adjusting to the lights. He expected to return to a peaceful ship, where they were cruising on to their new home. Instead he woke to flashing red lights, people screaming and a sense of nausea. "What the fuck is going on!" The man stood up immediately, Hector was there to help him out of the pod. Hector said to him, "The ship is in critical condition, and we gotta get you out of here." Hector and Ami patiently guided him towards evac pods, while Gregor caught up with his surroundings, hurdling expletives left and right.

-

"Over here!" Leo shouted to Garcia. He'd found an escape pod that hadn't been grabbed yet, "It's gonna go quick". He rushed inside of the evac pod and strapped himself in, looking back at the ship. Hopefully, the rest of his gang would make it out alright. He watched the small monitor seeing the other evac pods beginning to launch and head off towards the closest planet. "Looks like we're making a detour."

Garcia followed Leo, finally unclipping the tether that had probably kept her alive through this ordeal. She waved Odessa over as she made her way towards one of the last remaining pods and dove in beside Leo, strapping herself in quickly.

Fire burst from the Khrysis as it was torn in half by the sword ship, causing the engines to explode against the port side of the Nox.  The sleek engine ducts on the port side of the Nox were torn open by the explosion.  The escape pods closest to the collision were caught helplessly up in the destruction.   The fiery debris smashed into several escape pods behind the collision, still others were caught up in the propulsion jets of the damaged Nox and incinerated by the uncontrolled heat of its engines.  Those further out would feel the heat rising in their pods as temperatures rapidly increase from around 65 degrees to between eighty and ninety degrees.

Elijah stumbled, out of breath, barely taking in any air into his lungs, almost unable to stand, up to the navigation deck doors, struggling to hold himself up and keep his palm steady on the scanner to open the airlock.  A bright red light scanned over his hand and the monitor beside the airlock flashed a red banner.  This occurred two more times before Elijah punched the scanner, cracking in down the middle as he fell to the ground choking.   His breath was shallow at best and his skin was cyanotic in color as he slouched over onto his side with hands wrapped around his throat. His vision started to blur when the airlock hissed open, behind it a huge piece of shrapnel pierced the navigation bay.   Elijah scanned what he could of the view as his vision failed, catching only a glance of the pilot’s arm on this side of the metal.  A shadow of a person enveloped his sight before everything went black, murmurs of a voice talking to him slowly faded into nothing, only silence remained before his consciousness faded.

The soldier tied to help stabilize the doctor as the turbulence shuck the ship once last time.  Once it passed he looked back up to where the prisoner had been standing, suddenly his eyes widened and he began to search the hall quickly back he found nothing.  Brandon had fled as the ship went through the last round of convulsions.  The soldier tried to move toward the door when the pain surged through his body.

“Damn…” he choked out as he realized he could not pursue the man. “I hope he dies.”

Brandon managed to slip out of the mess hall and into the blacked-out service hall ways just not that far away.  He leaned his back against the wall and eased himself down to the floor, clenching his teeth from the pain.  He gripped the cloth of his pants, tearing it open around the source of the pain.  He looked at the area around his knee and cringed at the sight of his leg.  The tourniquet had slowed the bleeding, he grasped what seemed to be a piece of bloody shrapnel lodged in his knee down through his calf.  He screamed when he tried to pull it out, but the white protrusion wouldn’t budge.  He threw his head back against the wall in pain, what he couldn’t see it the shrapnel was a piece of his own bone broken and piercing out of his flesh.  He sighed.

“You reap what you sow,” he said quietly laughing at his situation, resigned to the death he had fought so hard to avoid.

The fleet was scattered across the system, separated from one another as the damaged vessels sought refuge at the nearest planet to their location.  For some the journey was only a few hours, for the escape pods the flight seemed to last almost 32 hours.  The Echo had sustained so much damage to its engines that the ship could barely push itself through the stars.  For those still on the Echo the trip lasted an agonizing 72 hours before they reached the planet.  Their landing was less than sooth as much of the ship’s hall was already damaged.  As they entered the atmosphere the heat cut through much of the damaged armor and even broke a portion of the ship off and sent it crashing down to the ground miles behind the main portion of the ship.

Garcia coded a manual override into the evac pod's navigation controls and veered the hapless little chunk of metal as far away from the explosions of the Khrysis as fast as she could. She saw other escape pods being torn to shreds or incinerated around them. She dodged as much of the cataclysmic destruction as she could, hoping that whatever damage the pod took wouldn't disable it or knock it off course. Once she could do no more, she set the pod's controls back to automatic and watched it plot towards the planet. She tried to pull up any comm systems that the pods could access.

"You know," she said to Leo and the others on her pod not long after entering the planet's atmosphere, "the real cluster-fuck is going to be surviving what happens next, after all that..."

Dr. Nguyen had no other choice but to cling to the soldier for dear life. He kept her alive during the worst of the horror, but there was no telling what would happen when the ship burst through the planet's atmosphere and actually collided. Tara and Taylor Kennedy went down along with the Echo, the terrified mother clinging to her unconscious little girl throughout the chaos. Cabot Kennedy was still missing.

Both Cole and Jesse   helped  people around them brace for the initial turbulence the explosion would cause. Cole focussing mainly on the small child  still clinging to him. Hyaku aswell tried to help those that were unconcious or unable to help themselves to  prepare for the shockwaves.  And Timothy stayed mostly in his  corner, bracing himself agianst any and everything.

Once the actual explosion ended,  while the other 3 helped the dr's and security personnel  Tim was busying try to connect navigation to any of the escape pods that may have been knocked off course, and try to re-align them  toward the planet  they were all heady for. it wasn't the planet they wanted. but it would be liveable, and it had to be better then  spending any more time on this damn death trap of a shit.

wouldn't it??

Dr. Rich spent his seventy-two hours .... was it really that long .... working with every fiber of his being to keep as many of the patients alive as he could. He had been a doctor long enough to be stoic about those he couldn't. Cursing that he was too old to be working like an intern, he took naps when the other docs were up and he wasn't elbows deep in blood and guts. Later he supposed someone must have been feeding them and maybe giving them some caffeinated beverages not that he was so naive that he believed that even the blackest of coffee explained how they kept going.

Mika found herself in one of the "enlisted" kitchen cupboards when the roaring, heat, and crashing finished. Wound around a large bag of rice, she carefully picked her way out of the station that was just big enough for her and her "teddy" rice. She had absolutely no memory of how she had come to be in the cupboard or much of the past couple of days. Hearing other's stories, she took that to be a good thing.

Nothing in any of Clair's training ..... who was she fooling, what earth training could even have hoped to deal what she and everyone else had dealt with since the plague had started. She did her best to keep the people who had succumbed to stress and had become dangerous out of the way of people who were actually doing critical work. The rest of the time she did her best tea lady routine. When the ship made it's final crash landing, she said a little prayer that she was good enough to help those who had physically survived.

For the next seventy two hours, Odessa was glued to Garcia's side doing what ever she was told. While the drugs in her reservoir kept the worst of her schizophrenic symptoms from emerging, her communication skills quickly devolved into grunts, points and a single word, "chica".
